Research Scientist
Metabolic Technologies LLC
John C. Fuller, Jr., PhD is currently a research scientist at Metabolic Technologies LLC with a headquarters in Missoula Montana. Additional responsibilities include regulatory and quality in the TSI Group's global distribution of nutritional ingredients for humans and animals. John earned a BS in Animal Science at Iowa State University and continued studying animal nutrition at Iowa State University and earned a MS in Poultry Nutrition. John earned his PHD in Muscle Biology with a minor in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Iowa State University. From there John started work at Metabolic Technologies in the Iowa State University Research Park and has served as PI and Co-PI on numerous human clinical and animal studies. During that time Metabolic Technologies brought products to the human market for muscle health. John also played a large role in manufacturing of the ingredients as well as finished products and prototypes. This involvement lead to an extensive knowledge in the regulatory and compliance fields and John also currently serves as Regulatory in the overall TSI Group which markets nutritional ingredients world wide. Of particular focus for John has been the leucine metabolite beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) which has become a staple in human supplemental nutrition, not only for sports, but in maintaining muscle mass as we age. The world wide adoption of HMB use continues, and thus efficiency of production has made the cost more amenable to animal agriculture. Current initiatives include expanding use of HMB in targeted animal nutrition.
