I'm Angela McClaskey, a senior at the University of Missouri-Columbia and an Undergraduate Research Assistant under Dr. Kiho Lee. For the past three years I've been studying Animal Sciences with a minor in Microbiology. I've been working under Dr. Lee for a year and a half and will be starting my Master's program under his supervision in Fall 2025. At this conference, I'm presenting my work using CRISPR/Cas9 technology to disrupt CD4 in swine. Additionally, I've been involved in our labs Alzheimer's swine model, quantifying gene expression in the brain using RT-qPCR. Other lab responsibilities of mine include genotyping using PCR and Sanger sequencing, TOPO cloning for genotyping and troubleshooting, general animal care, and collecting samples for a microbiome study that will take place in Summer 2025. I have a strong passion for both molecular and microbiology and am eager to build my future career in this field. I look forward to contributing to advancements in biotechnology and medical research.
