Johana Mayorga is originally from Colombia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from the National University of Colombia. She then joined Iowa State University, where she obtained her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Animal Science. Her research efforts are on Nutritional and Environmental Physiology, where she studies the effects of heat stress on growth performance, metabolism, and inflammation in pigs. Her scientific focus is on evaluating various nutritional and therapeutic alternatives to ameliorate the negative consequences of heat stress on swine health and productivity.
