My name is Zachary Smith and I have a Ph.D. in Animal Science. I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Science at South Dakota State University. My responsibilities are related to feedlot cattle nutrition and management; I am the Faculty Supervisor of the University Feedlot (the Ruminant Nutrition Center) just north of campus in Brookings. My research program is focused on nutrition and management interventions that enhance newly weaned, growing, and finishing beef cattle production. Specific areas of research include: growth management technologies and application of specific management interventions that can alter feedlot cattle growth performance and carcass traits.
