Assistant Professor
Kansas State University
Ottawa, KS
Haley Larson, Ph.D., is a teaching Assistant Professor of Animal Health at Kansas State University's Olathe campus. Dr. Larson teaches, conducts research, and advises graduate students in various programs related to animal health including the Veterinary Biomedical Science Masters program, the Animal Sciences and Industry graduate program, and the Masters in Public Health program. She has worked to create industry-partnered graduate programs to support education and research in the Animal Health Corridor throughout the Kansas City Metro region and beyond. Her own higher education degrees are from the University of Minnesota, with a B.S and Ph.D. in Animal Science. In the middle of her Ph.D. program, Dr. Larson was presented with the opportunity to work for Cargill Animal Nutrition and Health as a senior scientist at the Global Innovation Center in Elk River, MN. In that role, she designed the company’s dual-flow continuous culture system – the first fully automated dual-flow system for cattle rumen simulation. She completed this while finishing her degree, speaking to her first-hand connection to many of her students pursuing degrees while working full time. She leverages this background daily not only in her industry-aligned curriculum but also as she is working actively to develop lab capabilities for Kansas State at the Olathe campus.
