Graduate research assistant
Purdue University
West Lafayette, Indiana
I am Jacob Musa, a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Animal Sciences at Purdue University, where my research focuses on genetic and epigenetic strategies to enhance heat resilience in swine. By integrating functional genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics, heat stress physiology, and behavioral analysis, I aim to mitigate the cumulative effects of in utero heat stress on swine welfare.
Before joining Purdue, I served as a Translational Genomics Research Assistant at the Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences at Aberystwyth University in Wales. I earned my M.Sc. in Animal Science from Aberystwyth University, where I investigated MKL1 gene polymorphism and its relationship to body measurement traits in Muturu and White Fulani cattle breeds of Nigeria. I completed my undergraduate degree in Animal Science at Kaduna State University in Nigeria.
