Alexa Gormley is a third-year PhD student at North Carolina State University studying swine nutrition under the direction of Dr. Sung Woo Kim. Alexa graduated from Iowa State University in 2022 with a BS in animal science and a minor in meat science. Her current work investigates the utilization of various nutritional interventions to reduce the negative effects of weaning stress through positive interactions between the mucosa-associated microbiota and intestinal immune health, specifically in the small intestine.
