Lautaro is an Assistant Professor in Bovine Immunology in the Department of Animal and Dairy Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Lautaro earned his PhD in Immunology and Microbiology from the University of Guelph, Canada. He also holds an MSc in Animal Science from the University of Florida and a BSc in Agricultural Engineering from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina.
His lab is dedicated to investigating the intricate dynamics between several on-farm management factors (such as colostrum feeding, probiotics, and antibiotics), and their impact on intestinal and immune development. The primary objective of Dr Cangiano's lab is to unravel the complex interplay between these factors and their profound influence on the early intestinal microbiota and immune development of dairy calves. By dissecting the impact of these management factors his lab is committed to developing evidence-based tools to optimize long term health outcomes in dairy cattle.
